Out of the Shadows
Photographed in Jasper National Park, Canada, this is my closest encounter with a wild Wolf. In September of 1994, I drove up to Jasper, Alberta thinking about photographing the Elk rut. It was a great trip, but my favorite photo opportunity was not Elk, it was a lone wolf. This beautiful black wolf walked out of the dark forest into the morning sunlight. Fortunately, I was able to get this shot before it disappeared back into the thick forest shadows. I asked myself, "Did that really just happen?" It was totally unexpected. Sometimes, you get lucky. Fuji film.
