The Grand King
A magnificent Bull Moose, in the prime of his life, walks through a field of sagebrush as the Grand Tetons rise in the background. I wanted to photograph him with a landscape photographer's perspective. So instead of using a large telephoto lens to zoom in on the Moose, I used a shorter telephoto lens to show him in his environment. My vision was to show the king in his kingdom!
On this day, an approaching storm created wonderful drama in the clouds, and the sage flats created a beautiful tapestry of texture and color. All I needed was for everything to line up. At this moment, when he was just below the Grand peak of the Tetons, I clicked the shutter.
