Western Tanager
Every June, I like to drive down to Montana's Big Hole River during the Salmonfly hatch in hopes of photographing the beautiful Western Tanager. Just like the fish, they love to feast on the big and abundant Salmonflys that hatch along the river. Tanagers are shy and uncooperative, but sometimes if I'm quick enough, I get a photo opportunity. This beautiful male stayed on this branch just long enough for me to focus and shoot.
